How long have you been in business?
Pictures Plus has been in business since 1998, we incorporated and became Pictures Plus Inc. in 2007.
What is your primary product or service?
Our business is split approximately 50/50 between framing (pictures and mirrors) and installations. By installations, that means very nearly everything that hangs on walls, whether we made it or not...pictures, mirrors, tapestries, white boards, marker boards, wide screen televisions, kitchen and bathroom fixtures, shelving, etc.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I'm an Industrial Engineer, and used to manage Quality Control for a couple of Japanese plastics manufacturers (injection moulding). During the Olympics in 1996, my workout partner at the time ran a frame shop, and needed someone to manage sales. I had just left my last engineering (QC) position, so I was available to help, and the Olympics was a great success. I stayed with that company for a couple of years before branching out and starting Pictures Plus.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We have no retail space, no gallery or showroom (but we do have a very complete professional framing facility). Instead, we always come to the customer's location and design on-site. This accomplishes a number of important goals. First, it saves a ton of overhead, so we're able to provide a bunch more services--On-site design, delivery and installation--all at no extra charge. That also means that it's maximum convenience for our customers. Since we come to them, they never have to leave their offices or homes, play in traffic, wait in line, etc. It also means that we can provide the best match for their location, because we can actually SEE their location--their lighting, shading, color scheme, pre-existing decor, architecture, and most importantly, their business or personal image. It's like interior design for framed art. With the rest of the industry, it upside-down...you have to go to them, and then try to explain to them what your place looks like. And you have to waste a bunch of time doing it. Our way works out better for nearly everyone.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We only have one physical location, where we do our framing, but again, we always meet the customer at their location, office or home, anywhere in the metro Atlanta area. So you can say, our retail location is wherever the customer is. I don't see any benefit to our customers or to us to add another fixed location, since we come to the customer, and we have no plans for that at this point.

All of them! We've done installations for Home Depot's World Headquarters in the middle of the night, and delivered pictures to people's homes at 6AM before they left for work. Days, nights, weekends. Of course, we prefer regular office hours!
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
